D.J. - J.B.

jb@dj-jb.com

At five years old, JB was singing on stage with his parents Al & Kathy Bain (NECMA award winners in multiple categories spanning many years), meeting legends like Chet Atkins and watching his parents perform in front of as many as 100,000 people. By 10 yrs old JB was taking drum lessons from his cousin Bud Anderson (recording artist NY, Washington DC) and jammin' along to Kiss, Queen, and other classic rock albums, then picking up the acoustic guitar and bass guitar as a teen, played and sang in many local bands from the region near his parent's home in upstate NY. By age 14 was an engineer's aprentice at the radio station his parents broadcast their weekly show from, and began to learn about the technical side of sound and lighting. Borrowing a hundred bucks from his dad at age 16, began DJing high school dances on the side, as a means to pay for his first car. Just out of high school, the first of many residencies came along in the form of "Nitelife" teen club in Lake George NY in the spring of '87. Three weeks into the gig, a motorcycle accident left JB with a broken leg, dislocated shoulder and hip, and more importantly - nerve damage to the first two fingers on his left hand. Unable to play guitar and sitting around with a broken leg in front of two technic 1200s and a Uri mixer all summer at the club, a dramatic change of direction occurred. With DJing as the primary focus, and an extensive musical and technical background behind him, JB excelled in the booth and quickly became one of the area's best known DJs. Since the summer of '87 JB has held residencies in virtually every notable nightclub in the northeast, occaisionally traveling outside the area to spin, such as two years in Daytona Beach FLA including MTV Spring Break '91, and from '95 - '01 touring and recording a member of "C TOE" - the most successful original band ever to break out of the upstate region .
